But when a 16 year old's father spends £100,000 on her wedding, including £16,000 on a dress that wouldn't look out of place in a Las Vegas Burlesque show, you can't help but think there is something very, very wrong with the world.
It's not only that I think 16 is too young to make a lifetime's commitment to someone (I married at 24 and even now look back at and think I was a bit of a wain), it's also that £100,000 is just an obscene amount of money to spend on a wedding - regardless of background or beliefs.

Completely agree but on another more personal note - WTF are we doing wrong???? We couldn't afford to spend that money on either daughters wedding dress or wedding! Is living in a caravan the answer? And if either of my little Princesses had come in at 16 wanting to get married...Grrrr....theyd have got a boot up the arse.
Well, quite.
Even living in a cardboard box, I'd not be able to afford that.
But guess I'd better start saving now for Madam's wedding. Forget a university fund - most get my crystal encrusted garter fund started first!
It's a truth universally acknowledged that some people have much more money than sense.
